The Magic School Bus

The Magic School Bus Theme Song

Every parent remembers The Magic School Bus in some way shape or form. Whether its because they watched it or their children, that television show is iconic to say the least. “Come on the magic school bus” is one of the most fun invitations that every child loves to hear. This show has been rated one of the highest-rated PBS shows for school-age kids. The original show was 4 seasons long airing from September 1994 to December 1997 but was so successful that it had a spin off 20 years later; The Magic School Bus Rides Again which aired September 2017 to April 2018. The Magic School Bus was developed by Alison Blank, Kristin Laskas Martin and Jane Startz based off of The Magic School Bus
by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen.

This show is about Miss Frizzle taking her students on wild rides and field trips on a magic school bus. The bus allows her to physically transport the students however or wherever need be to teach that particular lesson. On these field trips the students learn about everything that there is to offer in the world of Science. This show makes children interested in how things work and why. It really highlights the science and mechanics behind things and life itself. For example my son loves chickens so one of his favorite episode’s is the crack the yolk episode. This episode is about chickens and eggs so naturally the students and viewers are transported onto a journey inside a chicken where everyone learns the answers to all their questions. Here is a slideshow of my son enjoying The Magic School Bus.

This show uses song, rhythm and rhyming to aid in the entertaining aspect as well as incorporating science techniques and facts. This show is an extremely important show for children in my opinion because it makes Science and learning fun and cool and allows each kid to go on that journey as well making them interested in what they are learning and participating with the show as it goes on. I am completely comfortable with allowing any children of any age to watch this show because it is fun, educational, entertaining and all around great quality. It is suitable for families and individuals alone, while maintaining its soft undertone. We are big fans of The Magic School Bus in our home. This show is so important because not only does it promote science and learning it also promotes gender equality as the main character that has all the information is a woman. So not only does it have a positive over tone it also has a positive undertone as well. It is a very iconic, important television show that has had an abundance of positive results in the children and families watching.
